RECOMMENDED VACCINATIONS
Flu/Rhino - Influenza and Rhinopneumonitis are upper respiratory diseases contracted from exposure to other infected horses. Vaccination is recommended for horses living in concentrated or transient populations at a minimum of every 6 months.
PHF - Potomac Horse Fever is thought to be transmitted through contaminated water sources from infected snails and insects in the horse's environment. Annual re-vaccination is recommended before the onset of insect season.
Strangles - Strangles is a highly contagious disease which causes abscesses of the lymph nodes and is transmitted through the respiratory system. Vaccination does not guarantee complete protection but can help reduce severe symptoms. Vaccination is given intranasally or orally. Annual re-vaccination is recommended for horses living in concentrated transient populations done either in the Spring or Fall.
